well, I guess I’ll join the bazillions of other bloggers out there who are planning on yammering on about American Idol tonight. This being the first season I’ve ever watched it, there are probably much more “experienced” Idol watchers out there you might enjoy reading more than I.

But so long as you’re here, I might as well yammer as well. (hee hee- yammer)

Ace was just on. He did his yummy-tummy rub that he and Chris are stuck on again. He’s improving entertainment wise. Not a great vocal performance though. I couldn’t understand most of the words to the song. Ace, honey, E-nun-see-ate!

Have you noticed how Ace makes the same face for each judge every week? Watch him, he’ll make the same faces next week.

Kelly now. Great Diggity-Dawg does she look hot! I love that dress on her.

::falls off chair:: Stevie jokes that he thought she was British. Kelly: Really? uh, no, honey, not really. Still laughing at that one.

Oh, I should mention, she is one of my absolute favorites. That girl has enough personality for three people. Her song choice I think is fairly good- it sounds very country. (duh) which, frankly, I prefer to Stevie’s style anyway. (sorry, M.) I think it was good that she was able to take something so different and make it fit her own song style. Not much moving around tonight, although with a slow song tonight I would guess she doesn’t need to.

Ok judges. Randy’s not thrilled, but he likes her shoes. (they were on sale!) Paula’s going on about something or other. Simon… Dolly PARTON school?? What the HECK?

LOL @ that tarantula comment. (they aren’t real tarantulas!)

Elliot’s up. I’m not a fan of his, frankly, and don’t really see what the judges love about him so much. He sounds like Stevie, M says. I guess that’s going to go in his favor. M seems to really like his performance but wonders how it’ll play for the people at home who might be looking for something fresher.

Judges: best so far.

Meh.

Now this is what I’ve been waiting for: MANDISA!! I like her necklace. Oh. My. Gosh. Ryan’s taking off her shoes!! That is Hillarious! Is she going to sing w/out them?

Yes she is!

Wow. Out of everyone’s voice, I absolutely love her’s the most. I would totally buy her records. Not much to say here because, quite frankly, I’m too busy listening.

Oh, and do I need to mention how beautiful this woman is? Seriously, that isn’t just something I said to make over-weight people feel good about themselves. She is a downright gorgeous lady. She might loose weight for health reasons, but she certainly doesn’t need to for vanity’s sake.

Bucky’s up. Here’s another guy I like, just because he completely surprises me as a singer. To look at him and listen to him talk… Jeff Foxworthy jokes keep popping unbidden into my head.

But then he sings, and my jaw drops. Not only does he have a great voice, but he’s not a bad performer either.

He’s talking about Stevie now and I’m a bit worried about how awful this performance is going to be.

Actually not bad. The judges like him. Simon said his hair looked like Jessica Simpson’s do. Wait… oh my gosh! It does! Why didn’t I see that earlier?! Darn you Simon! LOL!

Melissa’s up singing “Lately”. I can’t believe this chick beat out Ayla. I don’t mind her voice, actually, I kind of like it. But something about her has always rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it’s that she doesn’t have much of a range, but she tries to a tad too much.

Oh boy. She messed up the lyrics in front of Stevie. That’s so embarassing. I almost feel bad for her!

Uh oh. She forgot them again on stage.

Not a bad performance I guess. She sang it well, and I guess she covered her flub ok. But that’s a big mistake and I don’t know if people will forgive it or not. (oh I hope so. I don’t know if I can take too many more Kevin performances)

I actually agree w/ Paula about Melissa’s voice, it is unique and I guess that’s what I like about it. Simon says it was her best performance. huh. Go figure.

Lisa’s turn. She’s impressive, but everyone’s feelings about her always come with a little asterisk and a post-script reading “for a 16 year old”. I really like her hair and outfit tonight. She looks great. Love the shirt!

The song was alright I guess. Found myself thinking about her clothes more than her song, except at the end where she got all cute in the cameras.

Randy agrees. Paula liked it. (I think) Simon says she has the “it” factor.

Yea. Kevin. Two ten year olds have a sign for him. He’s hugging them. I’d say that does it for Kevin!

He’s talking about being a sex symbol again which is cracking M up. (he like’s Kevin’s personality. Yea, ok, I’ll give him that.)

He’s singing now… wait… What. Is. He. Doing? He’s dancing like a cross between Mr. Bean and Taylor Hicks. (sorry, Taylor) LOL! He’s singing the “doo doo doobie”s!

Randy is cracking up. “you’re wearing makeup!” Kevin: “I am!” Paula points out a sign that says “Kevin is my heaven” Simon thinks it was a horrible performance, Kevin displays that lovable personality again and says “that’s ok, I wasn’t expecting much from you, either.” You go, Kevin!

Katherine! Other than Mandisa, her voice has got to be one of the best in this competition. I can’t wait to hear her sing.

I don’t like her in these empire waist dresses, it makes her look pregnant. She’s actually quite slender and, I think, the loveliest of all the women.

I don’t like this song. Not as a choice for her, I mean. Just that I don’t like this song in general. She does a fab job with it, though. And she is gorgeous. Like with Mandisa, I’m actually listening to her, despite my general dislike of the song. Heck, If I’m more interested in watching the girl than typing, it means it’s a better performance, right?

Randy: “dude, you are da bomb!” Paula: “best performance yet” Simon: “you remind me of Kelly Clarkson”

Taylor Hicks, everyone either absolutely loves him or just doesn’t ‘get’ the Taylor-ness. I think this should be a good week for him. Stevie’s songs should be able to meld easily for Hicks.

Ooh… his dancing is slightly improved. At least it works well with this song, I think.

Ok, now he’s doing weird turn-bumpity things. Voice is awesome again. M, says “he was actually entertaining that time.” Me: you mean that as in, not “goof-ball” entertaining? M says the song fit him. He’s right. Personally Taylor always entertains me.

Randy: Hot performance. “You were fearless!” Paula loves his sw33t Moves. Simon: “you are like everyone’s drunken wedding Dad. The difference is, you can sing!” (uh, thanks Simon! I think… LOL!)

Ryan is spreading rumors that the stylist wants to change Taylor’s hair color. uh.. not likely.

Paris Another good singer who is known for being young. M: she can perform, but she’s kind of “blah”. I think I agree. As much as I want to like her, I never get that excited about her performances. I’d like to see her continue, though, because I really want to like her. She’s got potential I think.

Randy: Hot! Effortless! Paula: you are only 17 years old…. (there’s that asterisk again) Simon loved it.

Ryan asks her a question and Paris starts singing. Kind of annoying, actually. Simon is staring at his finger nails.

Hee hee Ryan tries to sing like Paris.

Chris !!! I love his style. He plans on rocking it. Hope so, because I’m falling asleep here.

Oh wow. He sounds exceptional, again. Definitely stands out from the crowd. M: Great twist.

That was hot. I always look forward to him.

Randy: loved it. Paula: loved it. Simon: “This, for me, was the only real world performance because, I can actually imagine you having a hit record with that.” He took a risk and made it his own. “best tonight, by a mile”

Ok, watching the recaps. My highlights: I still think Kelly did much better than the judges gave her credit for. But I can see why they wouldn’t think it was her best. I like her better working country and rock. Elliot … oi. Still don’t get it. Mandisa: awesome. Lisa: not bad*. Katherine: I liked her facial expressions better this time around. Taylor: Stevie worked well for him. Paris: mm. s’ok* Chris: flashly lights were annoying, his performance was fave of the night.
