Kudos to Kaine
I’m a little late in commenting on this one, but I like to give props where they are due. Last week, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine (who also happens to be chairman of the DNC) signed a bill into law banning the use of state funds for embryonic stem cell research.
AND! He also approved legislation that would permit “Choose Life” license plates in his state. It’s a less important issue, but hey. Good on him.
Here’s the link on CNN.
In the comments you’ll note the usual hope of death and serious disease on the man for daring to go against liberal doctrine. (Hope! Change!) Not to mention a willful ignorance of the basic science of stem-cell research.
Or even an ability to read the very article they are commenting on.
He banned certain state funding for embryonic stem cell research, people- it is not a ban on all stem cell research- and certainly not the research done from things like umbilical cord blood or fat cells. Please note: that type of research doesn’t require anyone’s death.
Of course, CNN points out that
The move puts the DNC chairman at odds with President Obama, who signed an executive order earlier this month reversing the Bush administration’s ban on federal funding for research on embryonic stem cells.
Then again, President Obama is still too busy vacationing in Europe and giving away our nation’s sovereignty to notice much of what is going on in his own country. Thank God he left Joe Biden at home to run things while he’s away!
