This last election was nasty. Particularly in the way Sarah Palin was targeted. (not to mention Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro) Sadly, I’m not just talking about online trolls looking for a reaction. I’m talking about actual sexism- the kind that Republicans thought was extinct for the most part and Dems insisted still took place.

Little did we know they were talking about themselves.

Last election we saw skanky costumes and tee-shirts. (warning, the link is graphic- don’t view it at work. Or if you don’t want to see a double entendre visually depicting the words “drill baby drill” and the Republican candidates.)

We watched CNN compare Palin to Betty Boop. I, personally, sat in the living rooms of some of my liberal friends and listened to them hyperventilate about Palin’s children, and who would care for them? Especially her ::whisper:: handicapped son.

They hung her in effigy (“it should be seen as art”, they claimed). Sandra Bernhard fantasized in her comedy routine about Palin getting gang raped by Sandra’s “big black brotha’s”. (link to an advert for her routine is here)

Basically, I want to have sex with her on my Barack Obama sheets while my wife reads aloud from the Constitution. (My wife is cool with this if I promise to “first wipe off Palin’s tranny makeup.” I married well.)

this just before insisting that anyone watching Sarah Palin and doesn’t get “scared out of [their] freakin’ minds” was clearly “mentally ill, mentally disabled, or mentally disturbed”. (projection much?)

Because she said “nucular”, you see. Apparently nothing terrifies Democrats more than an accent other than the “California valley girl” or “Massachusetts elite”.

Sadly, the left is still terrified of Sarah Palin. Although I can’t imagine why. I never could figure out why they insisted on sending the attack dogs on her, as if she were the one running for president and not the VP spot.

Is she really that much of a threat? Why the continued attacks and hysteria?

And where the bloody hell are the feminists?

Is it asking too much to expect the left to actually respect women?

Not likely, when sites like Playboy are publishing articles rating female conservatives by how much they would love to “hate fuck” them, and while the right side of the blogosphere jumped all over themselves to denounce George Tiller’s murderer and anyone who ever said an unkind word about the man, and although I’m fairly certain that most liberals are not this misogynistic, the Democrat side of the blogosphere is hardly making waves in their kiddie pool over the Playboy incident.

And please, I am not equating murder to a desire to rape a woman because she’s attractive and her opinions do not match their own. Murder is far more heinous act. However, so long as we’re discussing the rampant “Climate of Hate” that birthed Tiller’s murder, perhaps we should also make note of the very alarming hate directed at conservative women from other realms.
